God is Exposing Pride in the Church: A Call to Repentance and Revival

In this season, the Spirit of God is speaking clearly: pride in the church is hindering revival. It is time for the Body of Christ to humble itself, repent, and remove every trace of pride so that the glory of God can move freely among us.

The Bible warns, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18, NKJV). When pride takes root in the hearts of believers, it resists the very move of God we are praying for. Pride manifests in many ways—self-sufficiency, religious performance, competition, and an unwillingness to admit our need for God. 

The Lord is exposing pride in His church, not to condemn, but to cleanse. James 4:6 (NKJV) says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Revival cannot flow where people are striving for recognition, holding on to offenses, or building their own kingdoms instead of God’s. 

We see examples in Scripture where pride blocked the blessing of God. The Pharisees in Jesus’ day trusted in their own righteousness and missed the very Messiah they had been waiting for. Likewise, if we are not careful, pride can blind us to the fresh move of the Holy Spirit in our churches today.

The call is clear: get rid of the pride. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) reminds us, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Humility is the doorway to revival. 

God is inviting His church to:

Examine our hearts – Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any pride, self-righteousness, or hidden motives.

Repent sincerely – Confess pride to God and to one another, and turn from it.

Pursue humility – Choose servant-heartedness over self-promotion.

Make room for God – Yield our programs, agendas, and timelines to His Spirit.

Revival begins with repentance. When we lay down pride, we make space for the power of God to shake our churches and our communities. The Lord is saying, “Humble yourselves, and I will pour out My Spirit.” Let us respond with brokenness, and watch the fire of revival fall.

Prayer:

“Father, expose any pride in our hearts and in our churches. We repent and humble ourselves before You. Remove anything that hinders Your Spirit, and let revival flow in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
